Parisian ensuite interior with tile

Marble, herringbone, Haussmann

Parisian ensuite tiles

A Parisian ensuite condenses the look — large-format Calacatta or Statuario polished porcelain on every vertical surface, a herringbone marble-look mosaic on the floor, and one brushed-brass tap. Skip the half-height tile; run the marble floor to ceiling so the ensuite reads like a single carved room. With small ensuites, this monolithic move is what makes them feel like a hotel rather than a renovation. Keep grout grey and joints tight.

Parisian ensuite, questions

How do I make a small ensuite feel Parisian, not cramped?
Run one marble-look tile floor-to-ceiling — no horizontal break, no contrast border. The continuous marble plane is what gives small Haussmann ensuites their grandeur. Then add scale-honest fittings: a thin-rim oval mirror, a wall-hung vanity.
Polished or lapped marble-look porcelain?
Polished gives the highest gloss and most authentic-marble look but shows water spots. Lapped is a semi-polished compromise — most of the shine, far easier to maintain. For ensuite walls, polished is fine; for the floor, lapped is more forgiving.
What tapware finish goes with Parisian marble?
Brushed brass and warm-gold are the historically correct choices and pair beautifully with Calacatta's warm veining. Polished chrome is the cleaner contemporary alternative and works well with Statuario's cooler white. Avoid matte black — it reads too industrial.
